A bunch of random things I wanted to talk about from this weekend:

Earth Hour

Most of you are probably aware that last night was Earth Hour, an hour during which people were encouraged to turn out the lights to save energy and raise awareness for all sorts of environmental issues.  As an avid recycler and all-around tree-hugger, I feel good contributing to these sorts of efforts, and I obediently shut the lights from 8:30 to 9:30 last night here on the east coast.  I hear that all sorts of big corporations/organizations were contributing, although I didn’t follow the stories closely enough to get the details.  If you made an effort to save energy, etc. last night, leave a story in the comments!  I’d love to hear about it.  Go Earth.  : )

Toasty Torpedo(TM)

Have you seen that commercial for the new Toasty Torpedo(TM) from Quiznos?  Is it just me, or does that commercial really, REALLY make you want to give a blowjob???  I mean, the thing is warm and juicy and long and filled with meat.  Come ON now, people.  What am I supposed to think?  I swear, that’s the most phallic sandwich I’ve seen in a while.  I’m drooling just thinking about it… too bad I don’t eat that crap.

My So-Called Life

A friend of mine recently commented that she’d love to read the book of my life.  (Too bad I won’t give her the URL to this blog!)  It was right after I told her the story of Hot Marine magically reappearing for a random booty call and me rejecting his hot little ass as a matter of principle.  I guess that was an interesting story, but damn, my life is not nearly as exciting as it was a year ago!  I think she really has the wrong impression of how exciting/not exciting my life really is these days, but I guess it’s a good thing if I can entertain my friends with random stories about jerky guys.  It gives us something to laugh at over glasses of wine.  : )

I Made My Grandmother Cry

I visited my family today, and my grandmother (as usual) brought up the “why don’t you have a boyfriend” conversation during lunch, and when I said that I didn’t want to talk about it, she started crying.  Then my mom started crying.  Then my mom said that my grandmother would really like to see me get married while she’s still around.  WTF, people???  This is such a sore topic with my family… why do they even bring it up?  What’s the point?  I felt SO bad that my grandmother was crying, and I just didn’t know what to do.  Bummer.  I love you, Grandma.  Don’t be sad.  I’m just a big dork.

I Heart Twitter

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I joined Twitter.  OMG, I’m totally addicted.  How did I miss out for so long???  You can find me at thedateabledork, where I will probably be spending most of my day tomorrow instead of working.  God help me.  Also, yay for random wastes of time!!!  : )
