The Dateable Dork

Dating (mis)adventures of an unexpectedly sexy New Yorker

  • About Me

I’m a 30-year-old (!!!), single, charming, and totally dorky girl taking on the ridiculous New York dating scene. When guys are surprised to see a sex kitten emerge from behind my dorky exterior, I just smile and reply, “Who ever said that dorks can’t be sexy?" [More]

Maybe my family isn’t so bad

10 May 2009

I spent the day with the Dork family for Mother’s Day today, and I have to say, it was actually kinda nice.  Granted, the day was liberally sprinkled with “why are you still single?” comments from mom and grandma, as usual, but I honestly think that they’re slowly starting to give up on me.  Or, at least, they’re starting to give up on harassing me about it, which is a very welcome change.  I mean, really – can we just drop it already?  I know they’re unhappy about it, and I really don’t need to be reminded.  Ok????

But aside from the uncomfortable and aggravating comments, it was actually kinda nice to spend some time with the gang, if for no other reason than to get away from my day-to-day life and revert to being a kid again.  My nephews were out and about, and we played baseball in the backyard and helped my mom plant her flower garden, and I saw my brother’s new guitars, and I cooked dinner with my grandma.  Everyone got a good laugh out of me weighing my dinner on my little “diet scale” so that I could stick to my WW guidelines, and everyone rolled their eyes at me when I was the only one who didn’t have dessert because I was “out of points.”  I don’t know, I guess it was just a nice, fun, relaxing day, not to mention that the weather was absolutely gorgeous.  All in all, a good weekend.

I feel like I want to write more tonight, but I’m drawing a blank.  I hate it when that happens!  Oh well, I guess I should just wrap this up and call it a night.  Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there – hope you had a good one!

Got something to say?
