4th of July weekend
Happy 4th, everyone! : ) Hope you’re all enjoying a nice, long, sunny, work-free weekend. I know I am! I’m not sure how much blogging I’ll be doing over the weekend, but I figured I’d get in a quick post now while I’m finding myself home and at the computer (on a Friday night, of all times, ha).Â
Today I went to the most relaxing barbecue, seriously. It was a small gathering (just me, a friend, and a couple), and it was SO nice to just sit outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather, scrumptious grilled food, and good company. First, the weather: that mysterious giant yellow orb in the sky made an appearance today (finally), and peeps, I cannot tell you how absolutely wonderful it felt to simply sit in the sun and soak it all in. Ahhhh, so great. I got a little color on my face and shoulders, and trust me, I needed it. Second, the grill: OMG, I love everything that comes off the grill. Seriously. No toppings/sauces/spices necessary – that amazing grill flavor is more than enough! I brought a WW-friendly salad to the gathering, and between that and the grilled seafood & veggies (with fruit for dessert), we had one hell of a healthy but absolutely delicious meal. (For fellow WW-ers – I ate my little heart out and only spent 7 points!) Not bad, my dears, not bad at all. Best part: sweet corn. Ohhhhhhh how I love grilled sweet corn. I was in heaven. Third, the company: This group was so mellow, down-to-earth, and REAL, and I realized that it was quite a refreshing change from my normal crowd. Who knew? I really felt super comfortable with them right away (I didn’t know the couple before today but fell in love with them) and had a great time just shooting the shit about anything and everything. So great.
Also, there was no alcohol involved! Amazing!
I hope that the rest of the weekend follows the good start I had today, and I hope you all find yourselves relaxing in the sun with good friends and good food. And if you happen to eat some really delicious but really fattening food, please describe it to me, in excruciating detail, so that I may live vicariously through you. Thxkbai. : )

Ah, yes, making better choices slowly becomes natural. Last night we went to my favorite restaurant (they have fabulous cheddar soup) but I had 1 beer, a salad, and 1 piece of cheese bread. And I wasn’t hungry after, so really what was I doing eating all that stuff before?
Oh, and yesterday (for a brief moment before breakfast) I saw 139.6 on the scale! Haven’t been below 140 in 2 years!
