The Dateable Dork

As if my beach day on Tuesday wasn’t good enough, I was absolutely bombarded with fabulousness from every direction yesterday.  How fucking cool is that???  Observe:

- Work-related fabulousness: I got promoted!  OH HELLS YEAH!!!  : )  After my boss put me up for a promotion a few months ago, my company took their sweet-ass time mulling things over, what with the economy in the toilet and my company’s recent sale to the highest bidder.  I have to admit, things didn’t look good.  We were hearing all sorts of crazy rumors about “no promotions this year,” “no salary adjustments this year,” “the company is going to make you hand over your first-born child this year,” etc.  But lo and behold, sweet little DD got her fantastic promotion after all, and with a pretty decent (all things considered) raise to go along with it.  Fuck yeah! 

To add to the awesomeness, my boss told me that a bunch of people didn’t get their promotions this year, but that for some strange reason (cough, I am awesome, cough) I got mine.  So yeah, I’m fucking excited.  So sue me!  PLUS there are two super-cool bonus parts to this promotion: (1) this move signifies the transition from competent mid-level worker bee to a semi-respected senior-level worker bee who is no longer interchangeable (a small but significant difference), and (2) my salary crossed over a nice round number (albeit a low number, but still), so now I feel all official and well-paid (ha).  So friggin cool!  : )

- Life-related fabulousness: Yesterday was my last Weight Watchers meeting, signaling the end of my 11 weeks of counting points and dropping pounds, and I FINALLY crossed the 130 mark on the WW scale, which meant I officially achieved my goal!  YESSSSS!!!  I got acknowledged at the meeting (just in the nick of time) and got my little “goal” star for my keychain and felt pretty friggin awesome for having one of the biggest numbers of the group.  Go me!!!  I weighed in at 128.2 (still absorbing that one – wow) and really felt like a million bucks.  So awesome.  And in the interest of full disclosure (and because I want to brag a little!), below is my official weight record over all 12 meetings – total weight loss of 18.4 pounds (13% of my initial weight) in 11 weeks.  Unbelievable!!!

I have to say, losing that weight was the best thing I’ve done for myself in a long time, and it’s affected my self-confidence and mood in so many aspects of my life.  It was so worth it!  I look great and feel like a whole new person.  And I really can’t believe that I lost almost 20 pounds.  Who knew I even had that much to lose???  : )

- Dating-related fabulousness: Ok, I wouldn’t exactly call it “fabulous,” but it was still good news.  Remember my interesting male prospect from earlier this week?  I got a call from him last night, which made me feel like maybe he’s actually interested in me, which would certainly be a nice change of pace, thank you very much.  I actually missed his call because I was out late with some coworkers, so we didn’t get to chat, but just the fact that he called was a little bit of icing on an already cake-filled day.  Know what I mean?  It was nice.

As a treat for myself for finally hitting my WW goal on the WW scale AND getting promoted all in one day, I allowed myself to eat about a teaspoon of fresh pineapple jam from a farm in Pennsylvania.  Oh, it was soooooooo good and sooooooo sugary.  Delish.  : )

So that’s the story!  Lots of good news going around these days.  I really can’t complain.  Oh, and for those of you who missed my latest twitter updates, I had a sex dream about a three-way with Ray Romano last night and another dude who I imagined to be “his brother Keith,” whatever that means.  And my dears, it was SUPER HOT.  Despite whatever you may think about Ray, this dream was incredibly juicy and I woke up feeling amazingly turned on.  Not sure how much I should read into this… so instead, I’ll just accept a hot sex dream for what it is and be thankful that it came along in the first place.  Yum yum.  (Stop laughing at me!)
