Now THAT is what I call a date
He picked me up at my apartment.
He put gel in his hair and dressed up, and I wore a summer dress.
We went out to a fancy dinner.
We talked and talked.
We played with each other’s feet under the table.
We exchanged “looks” all night.
He walked me back to my door…
… and I got my kiss goodnight.
I will be smiling like an idiot until further notice.
Details tomorrow. : )

We better get details, missy! Can’t wait to read all about it!

Don’t worry, details are coming tonight! How annoying that work and sleep get in the way of these things. Suffice it to say, I am a happy girl today. : )

I can’t believe you are going back to the guy you KNOW gave you an STD. That’s guts. Or stupidity. Or desperation perhaps. You should have a bunch of guys you are dating so you don’t get what we guys like to call “one-itis”

Good for you DD, sometimes the curve ball life throws you is a simple pleasure.
August 27th, 2009 at 10:18 amHow long were you dating this guy the first time around? Your Twitter post says he’s an ex. This guy (knowingly?) gave you an STD and put you through hell for it. Unless this guy was innocent when he gave it to you, personally, I’d punch him out rather than kiss him. Glad you had a wonderful date and you’re happy, though
August 27th, 2009 at 11:54 amHey there! I have been reading your posts for a while now and I have never commented but this time round I felt the need to chime in. I am also single, a bit older than yours by the way and I know about longs periods of loneliness and wondering where all the nice, sexy guys of the world have gone
However, it is bitter experience that urges me to say what you already know anyways; an ex is a bad idea – especially if he was never in love with you before despite the great sex you’ve had (forgetting the STD!). Keep your time and heart open for a new guy that may lead you to the happily-ever-after that you so much wish for, I am sure he is around the corner.

Kevin – Your thoughts on “one-itis” stir up some very strong feelings about the New York dating scene in general – remind me to write an entire post on this one day.
Chris – It was simple and nice, yes. I needed that. : )
Nicole – Thanks for your concern. Ok, here’s the deal: I’m going to touch on this in my next post, but the short story is that I’m 99% sure he didn’t know he had it, and I really do think he’s a stand up guy. We dated for ~3 months last winter before things fizzled out. If things escalate to sex this time around, we WILL have a long talk beforehand, and I WILL require a full STD workup. Period.
LostforWords – Thanks for reading and commenting! It’s always nice to “meet” readers. : ) I definitely hear you about dating an ex, especially one who never had strong feelings for me in the first place. I know. I’m not sure what to say except that I need a little something to get excited about these days, and NYL seems to fit the bill. I’m not being logical here, just emotional. What can I say?
hubman – Thanks. : )

You forgot to check his height! Make sure he is at least 5 foot 9!
August 30th, 2009 at 10:17 amTimothy – Since he’s my ex, I already knew how tall he was. And yes, he meets my “nice and tall” preference at ~6’2″. : )
