I’m split on this. On one hand, MAYBE you are helping him (and thus helping those poor ladies who agree to a date with him). On the other, I think it’s reasonable he’d be pissed and snap back.

I simply “favorited” a girl on a site where she could notice, and she emailed me. The problem: every one of her photos had her cuter friend in them,MORE PROMINENTLY displayed. I favorited her tiny Asian-American friend. I figured it out when she emailed me because it was a GREAT email, and I looked in more detail at her profile. I could have met her thinking it was someone else! So I emailed her and politely told her “that was one of the best emails I’ve ever seen, so I want to be honest with you rather than ignore you.” And I told her the truth: I mistook her for her friend, and wasn’t interested, but I admired her confidence in emailing me first and the creativity of her email.

I thought I was doing the “right” thing. I thought “this may actually help her to get more and better responses.” She REAMED me out for it. Even though you meant well, even though this guy is a chode, I think his response was pretty much expected. It is what it is. When someone you don’t know is giving you constructive criticism, it is hard to remain objective. Don’t feed the trolls.

I agree with Tony. The email suggesting he update his photos was probably unnecessary… Some things just need a great big leaving alone.

I know how you feel. My girlfriend and I go through some rough periods (kind of like the one we’re in at the moment), but the last thing I want is to end up back in the dating pool. No way. There’s a reason she and I have been together as long as we have; I’m extremely particular when it comes to a “match”. If we ever break up, I’m going to remain single for the rest of my natural life. Too many psychotic people.

hey, listen chick. Obviously this guy got his back all up about your email and lashed back in his little troll like fashion. I wouldn’t give him even a 2nd thought. If he was someone worth that 2nd thought he’d be someone who would be accurate with the pictures he uses to attract dates on the internet. He’s not that person. He’s also not a person worth you getting upset about. Forget him. They exist… you got unlucky enough to stumble upon one. Lucky you. I’ve stumbled upon several more than that in my dating adventures. No idea why they can’t just be honest… oh right… cuz then no one would meet them.

First, I hope you’re not honestly letting his email bug you in the slightest. The guy’s got serious issues and that’s neither you fault or problem.

Sadly, lots of guys use deceptive pics (and they don’t feel guilty about it – oblivious shits that they are). But there ARE some great guys out there in online dating land. It just takes a little work to find them.
