Dating (mis)adventures of an unexpectedly sexy New Yorker

  • About Me

I’m a 30-year-old (!!!), single, charming, and totally dorky girl taking on the ridiculous New York dating scene. When guys are surprised to see a sex kitten emerge from behind my dorky exterior, I just smile and reply, “Who ever said that dorks can’t be sexy?" [More]

Allow me to express my displeasure at the male species

16 Sep 2009

Dear ex-lovers, fuck-buddies, and exes who have recently stuck their tongue down my throat,

When my phone rings and I get all excited that you might actually be calling me, and then my caller ID says it’s my dad, I get a little disappointed.  When it’s been over a week since I’ve last heard from you, I start to get a little annoyed.  When I think about the fact that one of you is surgically attached to your email, and the other one thinks a txt can substitute for an actual conversation, and neither one of you is willing to actually pick up the phone like a normal human being, it makes me want to swear off men for good.

Please take this into account the next time you’re trying to get an ex to sleep with you, ok?  Because I refuse to tolerate this bullshit.

End of rant.

I agree 100%. It is annoying as hell but maybe things got really busy for him? Life has a funny way of doing that.

DD – don’t put up with these men and their bullshit behaviors! If they don’t have the interest to pick up the phone and give you what you want and offer you something substantial, don’t give them anything! Not a shoulder to cry on, not a kiss, not a shag, not even a text back! Don’t give these guys anything more than what they’re giving you (such as your feelings and care for them). You have control over this situation – cut these wishy-washy men out of your life and start fresh!

I can understand being upset at past lovers and ex-boyfriends, but fuck buddies? Really? Isn’t the whole point of a fuck buddy that you don’t have to worry about things like conversation and mutual interests (besides giving each other orgasms)? Or is actually conversing with them the kind of thing you expect from your fuck buddies?

Gray – No way. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about dating over the years, it’s that you’re NEVER “too busy” to call someone you’re interested in. Never. If he’s not calling, he’s not interested. Period!

Nicole – Very well said! They’re not giving me anything at all – as usual. So fucking typical!

Andrew – The tiny little detail that you’re missing here is that I secretly care about these guys, which is totally and completely toxic and inappropriate. So yeah, I want them to call me. And yeah, I know that’s totally screwed up. I’m a girl, I get emotional. So sue me! : )
