Dating (mis)adventures of an unexpectedly sexy New Yorker

  • About Me

I’m a 30-year-old (!!!), single, charming, and totally dorky girl taking on the ridiculous New York dating scene. When guys are surprised to see a sex kitten emerge from behind my dorky exterior, I just smile and reply, “Who ever said that dorks can’t be sexy?" [More]

All signs point to yes

25 Jan 2010

Remember the other day when that professor emailed me saying that she was interested in my grad school application?  Well, I wound up chatting with her for 45 minutes this morning, and – dare I say it – it actually went very well!  She sounds very friendly/down-to-earth, her research is exactly my cup of tea, and she said that my application was “very impressive” and that I would be a “great fit” for her group.  Well shit then!!!

This is super exciting because, as I said last time, this professor is someone who I would really love to work with at a university that I would really love to attend.  I’d have to iron out a few kinks if this were to actually work out, but I’ll cross that bridge if/when I come to it.  For now, I’m excited that all signs seem to be pointing toward an acceptance and funding offer, although (of course) I’m still waiting for the official decision to come in, which may take several more weeks.  But holy shit!  This is a good sign.  The adrenaline is pumping.  There is a big smile on my face.  I’m so glad I’m doing this.

Oh, and can I just say?  All those years of being a smartypants are TOTALLY paying off here.  : )

Our faculty only started reviewing applications this past weekend. We won’t have decisions until March! Best of luck :-)

Honey – Thanks! Yeah, I found out today that the admissions committee meeting at this school isn’t until late Feb, with decisions coming in early March. So, I still have a while to wait. Plus I’m still waiting on the other schools I applied to. I’m just getting anxious!

hubman – Thanks, me too. I’m crossing my fingers. : )
