Dear blog,
I’ve got a story for you, and you’re not going to like it.
I’ll make this short and sweet. With bullets! Here’s how it went down:
- The new male prospect called me out of the blue last night.
- Apparently he and his GF broke up after a year and a half.
- I do a little happy dance in my head and pat myself on the back for waiting out that relationship for so long. (Don’t look at me like that.)
- He wants to catch up.
- Tonight.
- With a bottle of wine.
- In my apartment.
- I say absolutely not. (This is where you’re supposed to be proud of me, blog.)
- He says that he bought me a birthday present and wants to give it to me.
- For about 5 seconds, I am flattered that he remembered and actually bought me something.
- Then he confesses that it’s a vibrator.
- And he wants to come over so that we can break it in.
- I say absolutely not.
- He says that he’s had a sexual fantasy about me.
- And that he’s been jerking off thinking about me.
- And that he remembers all the times we’ve hooked up in the past and how it’s been “really good.”
- I start laughing at how absolutely ridiculous this conversation is getting.
- And still insist that there is no WAY he’s coming over to my apartment.
- We get into a semi-argument about how I don’t want to hook up with him anymore because it always ends the same way and I shut that door a long time ago and want to keep it that way.
- Finally we hang up. I am speechless. WTF just happened there???
- I wake up this morning to two text messages that he had sent last night, one of which contained the word “cock.”
- Sigh.
Let the record show that (a) the NMP is the same hornball that he’s always been; and (b) I totally stood my ground. Someone please remind me – WHY was I waiting out that relationship? I can’t seem to think of any good reason…
But I sure am curious to see him again. (I told you that you weren’t going to like this.)

I’m actually surprised to see so many of you telling me to go for it, considering the long and jagged history with this guy. The opportunity came and went, though, and now the NMP is back upstate and his moment of horny insanity has passed. P.S. – I seriously don’t even know WHY I can’t seem to let go of these lingering feeling for the NMP after all this time. We’re totally incompatible, and even sex with him always ends up in a weirdly uncomfortable situation. What do I want out of this? Am I holding onto the hope of what could have been when we just met? What I wanted to happen but never did? WHY can’t I just let it go???
