It may be irony that the northeastern city is the one you wouldn’t move to all those years ago, but the reason to move all those years ago were not your own. Now they are, and that makes all the difference.

What you give up in excellent sushi, sunshine, and Santa Barbara will be doubly compensated with character. As someone who has lived upon both coasts and happily returned to this eastern one, I think you made the right choice.
